Charitable Programs and Services

Charitable Donations Go a Long Way

Our charitable programs and services at Wrinch Memorial Foundation are designed to help create a community where people have access to important resources to succeed in life. Despite having helped several individuals already, we believe that our mission isn’t over. This is a manifestation of our commitment to providing the people in the community with charitable programs that will help them meet their needs.

What Do We Do?

We run the following community programs:

Health Programs

  • Starting Smart Pregnancy Outreach Program, which provides free support, information and programs to women, new parents, and families. As part of that program, we offer perinatal outreach, breastfeeding support, doula services, and birthing classes.
  • Free mental health support and counselling for individuals under 65 years of age during the pandemic crisis
  • Free support for seniors and elders during the COVID-19 crisis, which includes professional counselling services as well as friendly phone call visits
  • The Art Kits for Elders Program provides monthly art kits for seniors in the Upper Skeena Region.

Educational Programs

  • Little Flowers Learning Hub is a strong start-based play group for children 0 to 6 years old and their parents, caregivers, and grandparents.
  • Stepping Stones Toddler Program provides playtime and crafting activities during our Pregnancy Outreach Program Drop-Ins.
  • Dolly Parton Imagination Library is a book program that provides a free, age-appropriate book each month for each child 0 to 5 years old. Contact us through this site or by phone for assistance!

Housing Programs

  • Our foundation has been operating Skeena Place Assisted Living Facility since 2005, which currently provides housing and services to six seniors, and we are planning to add eight more units to the facility in the near future.
  • Skeena Place started the Meals on Wheels Program in 2010, which is currently on hold due to COVID-19.
  • We are planning to build a 30-apartment community family housing complex and are hoping for a supportive housing project in the future.
  • The District of New Hazelton is building a Women’s Shelter complex, and the plans were initiated by Wrinch Memorial Foundation.
